What is the Gala and Auction?
The Gala and Auction is Houston Christian High School's largest annual fundraising event. The funds raised through table and tickets sales and the auctions provide much needed funds to support HC's daily operations - and you get to enjoy the benefits of items you bought in support of the students! The Gala is produced by a volunteer committee in partnership with HC Development.

Why do you have to raise money with a Gala? We pay tuition!
Tuition covers 90% of the costs of each student's annual education. Most independent schools have made the decision to raise additional funds to make sure that the tuition remains lower. As the school ages, it will begin to build an endowment that can help fill the gap. Until that point, we will continue to seek funds from families, alumni, corporations and foundations to help provide our exemplary education. Gala proceeds benefit all Houston Christian students providing funding for important programs, activities and enrichment that tuition just can't cover. Without the support of Houston Christian parents, relatives, friends and community members by attending the gala, our school wouldn't be able to offer many of our academic, fine arts, and athletic programs, or provide technology, financial aid, faculty enrichment, and state-of-the-art facilities at Houston Christian without raising tuition.

The purpose of the Gala and Auction
Our gala and auction have two purposes: fundraising and community-building. This is a great opportunity to support the school while also building friendships and bonds with your fellow HC families and friends! Some of your best memories of your family's time at HC will come from these evenings!

How Can You Help?

Volunteering
There are a variety of volunteer jobs and we are grateful for all of your help! If you have time to take on a significant role, let us know! If you have an hour or two to help pick up auction items, your time is valuable to us too! Join us!

Underwriting
The goal of the gala and auction committee is to have the costs of the event covered by underwriting so that every dollar spent at the gala goes straight to the school's general fund. There are underwriting opportunities at many different levels.

Table Sponsorships
Gather your friends! Table sponsorships are now available! Coordinate with your HC friends and buy a table! Purchasing a table guarantees a seat with guests you choose. You can also invite colleagues and friends who would enjoy the Gala or who may be considering HC for their own student.

*Auction invitations will be mailed in February 2019 and individual tickets to the event will go on sale at that time at a price of $200 per person.

The Wine Cellar
It is very easy to participate, donate a bottle or two of wine or make a monetary donation! Bottles of wine can be turned into the Development office between school hours.

Fellowship Party
The fellowship parties have become a Houston Christian tradition and greatly contribute to our core value in building community. Individuals or groups host an event for either the students, parents and faculty or a combination. At the gala/auction, guests sign up to attend your event at a predetermined price. The host(s) is responsible for underwriting the complete cost of the event.

Auction Donations
Of course, in order to have an auction, there have to be auction items! Popular items include vacation homes, sporting event/concert/theatre tickets, airline tickets, autographed memorabilia, airline tickets, restaurant gift cards, jewelry just to name a few.
